Doctools > Docbook, Namespaces & Mortality > Output formats
Output formats are versioned.
Each format provides dialects. See the section called “Options” for a list of proposed dialects.
context: ConTeXt (via texml)
plaintex: Plain TeX (via texml)
mostly as the guts behind ConTeXt.
latex: LaTeX (via texml)
xhtml: XHTML (directly from
XSLT)
plaintext (via roff, perhaps)
docbook-simple (and when it
has more versions)
docbook (various versions
thereof)
man: manpages (via roff)
fo (only because Docbook happens
to provides it already. This gives people a route
to horrible PDF, still)
src: pretty-printing as-is.
I'm sure there are lots of other output formats which would be useful to people. I've only listed the ones I know about; perhaps things like Microsoft's Open Office XML Format, Microsoft Assistance Markup Language, DITA and such would fit well in this list, if somebody wished to implement those.
